About the Artist

As a millennial creative female-type person and first-generation Nigerian-American, Chidinma is making a mark in the fine art and graphic design space. Born into a Nigerian artistic family in Washington D.C., the narratives in her works are influenced by her culture and environment.  Inspired by African themes, she fuses colors, textures, shapes, and traditional techniques to create images that are iconic and diverse. She is a mixed media artist whose fine art pieces have been showcased in exhibitions in the U.S and Canada. Her work has also been featured in Hype Hair Magazine, Essence.com, and the Baltimore Sun. When she’s not leading new projects at CHDesignz – her rapidly growing brand full-service graphic, illustration & design studio, you can find Chi-Chi painting a portrait, cooking savory and spicy cuisine, or working on new content for Nkem Life, a high traffic and lucrative blog that she created with her sister. In 2015, the two sisters hosted an art event in honor of their late grandmother called The Journey for Regina. The eclectic, artistic tribute focused on the importance of storytelling, carrying on ancestral legacy, and the impact that culture has on identity. The blog post written about the event attracted a feature story in The Washington Post.
