Artist's Statement

Somewhere in my work in mental health,  my approach took a shift from supporting symptoms to supporting the whole creative person.  I believe that when you support and understand the creative personality fully, presenting symptoms that seemed clinical can evaporate.  I want you to know that when you feel in charge and empowered by your creative personality, what it looks like, and your best tools to fully nurture yourself, many of your fears of illness and cyclical symptoms will no longer control you. This has become foundational to the work that I do.  My love for creative people, my own art,  and the many years I have spent working in mental health, watching my clients grow and recover, doing my own research and learning, I discovered that our beautiful, strong creative personalities can be over clinicalized, stigmatized and labeled. My gift to you is to reclaim the strengths inherent in your creative mind while shedding your self-doubt and inherited toxicity and fears. I believe it is when we arrive there, you can truly begin to work and thrive as your actualized creative self.
