About the Artist

Received BFA from Moore College of Art and Design in Philadelphia. An urban landscape painter (en plein air) throughout Baltimore's neighborhoods since the late 80's. I opened the Crystal Moll Gallery in the Federal Hill/Baltimore MD in 2009. In 2023 I moved my gallery to the Arts District in Highlandtown. Join us for the monthly Friday Night Art Walks.

Artist's Statement

I am an artist who has worked strictly on location for over 30 years. I mostly use the streets of Baltimore as the subjects of my work. My paintings require several visits to a site in order to capture the same time of day. I am a 'slow' plein air painter...using the out of doors as my studio. I am drawn to colorful scenes filled with light and love painting throughout Baltimore's neighborhoods.

"Our Market" is an oil on canvas which was painted on location which was in the Cross Street Market before it was closed and remodeled. Yes things must change and the market had been neglected for years. Too bad so much of the old character had to go. As I worked on this piece, business by business closed down. Many a good times were spent here. This piece required several visits to complete.
"Dressed" oil plein air painting. This piece is of a home on Lee Street in Baltimore MD. I visited this scene a good 7+ visit in order to complete.
This plein air piece was created over several visits to the site. It is currently on display at my gallery in Highlandtown
This piece was created during the Paint Annapolis Plein Air Event.
With the recent move of my gallery to Highlandtown's Arts District, I am using the neighborhood as subjects of my work. I had looked at this building over 20 years ago as a potential subject and have finally created this piece. https://www.crystalmoll.com/oils
