About the Artist
David Ayala is a Baltimore-based artist exploring the intersections of gender, sensuality, and culture through painting. Born in Carroll, Iowa, Ayala attended the university of Iowa where they received their BFA in painting in 2020. After moving to Baltimore, Maryland in 2021, Ayala earned their MFA from the Hoffberger School of Painting at MICA. Ayala has shown work with Night Owl Gallery, Maryland Art Place, and Baltimore City Hall in Baltimore, as well as Botanica Grove Gallery in New York City, the Des Moines Art Center, University of Dubuque and the University of Iowa. Ayala lives and works in Baltimore.
