About the Artist

Welcome to my website! My name is Deborah Shenge. I am a 23 year old artist who loves to draw, animate, and write. I graduated from Montgomery College in May 2022, with an Associate degree in Digital Animation. I am currently attending University of Maryland where I will graduate with an Animation Bachelor degree in May 2024.

Artist's Statement

As a long-time artist, I have made repeated attempts at creating a series of my own since 2016. I am mainly a 2D artist, but I have done 3D works from time to time. In addition, I have attempted to integrate both 2D and 3D mediums in a single project. I grew up watching European and Japanese animation as a child. Although it was not until later in my teen years where I had adopted certain styles into my artwork. The first instance of work that exhibits these features is one that I did in mid-December of 2016. I always went for action-based, drama type of plots. Up until today, I tend to balance between a cartoonish and a more realistic approach to my art style. In addition, I love designing human characters. I find humans the most entertaining when it comes to storytelling. There is a lot of ground to cover such as morality, depravity, and craziness for comedic means. For this reason, I was never versed in drawing animals or plants. Although, what I notice takes most precedence in my works is mecha. I don’t know where my interest in mechanics came from, but I know I happen to find them cool. Moreover, I place value in asking for viewers’ opinions. Feedback helps me see where to fix mishaps. In conclusion, I have discovered my foundation as a ‘human’ and potential mecha artist. Now, I am going to take this time to further develop myself.
