Diana Ulman

About the Artist

“as my art evolves, I both free myself and find myself - I hope you are touched in some way by my art and design - and I hope you enjoy viewing my artwork as much as I enjoy creating it - “ Diana Ulman Diana Ulman is an artist, interior designer, community volunteer and cancer patient advocate living in Howard County, Maryland.  She holds a Bachelor Of Arts Degree in Fine Arts from George Washington University with a major in painting and minor in design.  Her career led her from graphic arts to interior design while she continued her painting and drawing which has always been her passion.  In 1987 she established the interior design firm, Designs.  In addition, Diana has been an active painter since the 1960s, exhibiting her paintings and drawings throughout the region.  Ms. Ulman concentrates her work in acrylics, pen and ink, mixed media and collage, often recycling materials for use in her pieces.  She is passionate as well about her family and her desire for social justice.   Ms. Ulman has been extremely involved in her community having served on numerous boards and community committees. Those boards include The Ulman Cancer Fund For Young Adults, founded by Doug Ulman and the Ulman Family, The Howard County Jewish Community School, The Phelps Luck Elementary School, Dunloggin Middle School, and Centennial High School PTSAs, the Columbia Arts Center Advisory Board, Columbia Jewish Congregation, The Walters Art Museum and The Maryland State Council on Cancer Control.   She and her husband Lou Ulman are the parents of president of Margrave Strategies, former Howard County Executive Ken Ulman and his wife Jaki and Pelotonia President and CEO Doug Ulman and his wife Amy Grace.  They have three granddaughters and one grandson.
