About the Artist
A resident of the Gateway Arts District, Ms. Cave is a teaching visual artist, grant writer and arts advocate. She has two artistic themes in her work- colorful crowd scenes in her "Celebration of Life" series, acrylic on canvas, and "Thought Medallions," which are mixed media collages. Her public art installations included painting a Pandamania panda bear sculpture program for the DC Commission for the Arts and Humanities, and her work and greeting cards are on exhibit at Arts’tination, in National Harbor, Oxon Hill, MD. She is also President of the Hyattsville Community Artists Alliance.
As past Board Chair of the Prince George’s Arts and Humanities Council, Ms. Cave is a practitioner of creative, problem solving and community collaboration that model the best practices of global industry innovation. She has led the development of community-based arts education programs a priority for her advocacy efforts. She concentrates on integrating the social justice standards into existing curriculum, and offers related PD for teachers, artists and the community on “Activating ARTivism.”
Ms. Cave holds a M. Ed. in school leadership from the University of Maryland, College Park and facilitates teacher professional development training at national conferences. She earned a B.A. in visual arts from Dartmouth College and has APC teaching certification in MD through 2027. She was named one of Prince George’s County’s most 125 influential people, by PG Suites magazine, and was the recipient of the 2011 Coffelt Fellowship at the National Gallery of Art. She served as a Crayola faculty consultant, mentored art teachers, and manages artist in residency programs in Prince George’s County.
