ELIZABETH BURIN

Painting, Visual / Media

My artistic inspiration derives from my travels and above all from nature’s infinite variety of forms. Starting from precise observation, I endeavor to give voice to these unique forms. In my abstract work, I distill and streamline natural forms while still preferring organic-looking, curvilinear shapes. I have been sensitive to the expressive power of color since childhood, and I often revisit a subject to enhance a coloristic effect. My greatest satisfaction lies in the fluid and luminous medium of watercolor, for layers of transparent pigment provide the key to the brilliance I love.
