Enayet Hossainis a highly accomplished tabla player hailing from a renowned Indian musical lineage, spanning three generations. Born in Bangladesh to an Indian father and a Bangladeshi mother, Enayet's family relocated to the United States when he was just six years old. Enayet received his musical training from his father, Hamid Hossain, an esteemed Indian music teacher based in the United States, renowned for his teachings at UMBC and his mentorship of numerous students in tabla, sitar, and Indian classical vocal music. Enayet's versatility shines through his ability to accompany various genres, including North Indian classical music, instrumental compositions, light melodies, and semi-classical pieces such as thumri and ghazal. He also excels in the realm of world fusion music and delivers captivating solo performances. Before venturing into fusion music, Enayet dedicated himself to establishing his reputation as an Indian classical musician. At the age of 17, Enayet began collaborating with India's top musicians, including Aftab-E-Sitar Ustad Vilayat Khan, Ustad Salamat Ali Khan, and Pandit Jasraj, among others. His immense talent has led him to feature on more than 50 CD album recordings, encompassing Indian classical music as well as world music and fusion genres. Enayet's passion for both music and technology converged during his college years, where he pursued a degree in Computer Science. Leveraging his knowledge, he created the groundbreaking Sangeetpedia, an esteemed work serving as an encyclopedia of North Indian classical music. This comprehensive resource includes videos, audio files, pictures, and over 1,500 well-defined terms, enriching the understanding and appreciation of this musical tradition. In 2013, Enayet established the Indian-Jazz Fusion group called Melodic Intersect, which united talented rising artists from the Indian classical and fusion music scenes across the globe. The group's albums have achieved success on the CMJ charts in the US and have garnered recognition in prestigious award ceremonies, including nominations for the Best World Music Album in the 14th Annual Independent Awards and acceptance into the 57th, 58th, 61st, and 62nd Grammy Awards. Notably, Melodic Intersect's albums have achieved impressive radio rankings, reaching the number one position on the Roots Music Reporter and ranking fourth on the NACC world music and Latin charts. Enayet holds the distinction of being one of the few Indian musicians who are active voting members of the Recording Academy, actively participating in the Grammy Awards. In recognition of his remarkable contributions to the propagation of Indian music and its fusion within American society, Enayet has received citations from the state of Maryland.
