About the Artist
My name is Eric Reiffenstein and I’m a Photographer, and Educator. In addition to teaching and sharing my love of photography I’m a Fine Art and Portraiture Photographer. I have BFA from Purchase College State University of New York and after four years of odd jobs, some photographic and some not, I decided to go back to Graduate school at Savannah College of Art and Design. The MFA Program there gave me the opportunity to explore new directions in my personal work and the school’s emphasis on a well rounded technical and artistic curriculum filled in gaps in my knowledge. One thing I love about photography is that it leaves me open to explore a variety of interest. This has included spending a month exploring and photographing the Cathedral Church of St John the Divine, and a three week sojourn exploring the Cathedrals of England. My involvement with the local arts community has enabled my to meet and interact with a variety of creative individuals, and from time to time I have had the opportunity to document the work of my artist friends. Like my involvement the the local art scene, I have found that my Portraiture work not only provides me with a creative and financially rewarding means of applying my photographic skill, but can often lead to a variety of other opportunities as well. Photography is my ticket and guide to an unlimited number adventure. One of the keys is to always be ready and give your all no matter how small the job. You never know when the simple one off shoot may turn into a larger opportunity. This variety and the unexpected surprises helps keep the excitement alive. More and more I’m finding that life is like Improve, and you just have to be willing to say “yes” to what it offers. I hope you enjoy my work and thank you for viewing. The photographic image is a moment, captured and preserved allowing the viewer to see can contemplate the world in new ways.
