Erin Friedman

Painting, Visual / Media

Art has been part of me since childhood. It is how I process the world and connect with myself. When I paint, I am completely immersed. The layered and beautiful complexity of emotions inspires me most. I try to capture the essence of being human in my work through conflict, change, joy, and sadness.
I begin each piece by pouring mixed acrylic onto raw canvas, then build layers with a palette knife, various brushes, and oil sticks. I work intuitively, responding to what unfolds rather than following a plan. Each painting is personal and rooted in what I am feeling at the time. I do not depict specific moments, but the emotions tied to them show up in the brushstrokes, textures, and pastel lines. Each piece offers a pause, a place for feeling to rise to the surface for both me and the viewer.

About the Artist

Erin Friedman is an abstract artist based in Bethesda, Maryland. Over time, she refined her process and found her voice in abstraction. Her goal is to make people feel deeply through her work. Inspiration comes from everyday moments and emotional responses to life. She embraces these feelings and allows them to guide her creative process. She brings her sensitivity and empathy to every blank canvas. Erin’s work is free from formal structure and open to interpretation, inviting viewers to find their own meaning.
