About the Artist
An accomplished and cleverly endowed Jazz singer, songwriter, recording artist, and ukulele player who has resided in Lanham Maryland for more than three years. During this time (2019-Present), Regina has performed in Washington DC, Annapolis, Baltimore, Silver Spring and Alexandria, VA. Prior to her tenure in the DC, Maryland and Virginia Area, she spent five years in Los Angeles, California, where she played an integral part in the jazz community at the World Stage Performance Gallery (TWS) established by the late Billy Higgins (most recorded drummer in Jazz history). At TWS in Leimert Park, Regina Earl served as a weekly Jam Session Host and Performer from 2014-2019. Regina was invited to audition and became a member of The Ukulele Orchestra of the Western Hemisphere in Los Angeles. She played with this ensemble for one year including three private event concerts during 2018. Regina was featured in a one woman farewell performance concert at The World Stage for an audience of 30 guests in July 2019. From 2019 to Present, Regina has been performing solo/duo in the DC, Maryland, Virgina Area (DMV) at the Bread and Butter Kitchen (Annapolis), Order and Chaos and Baltimore Farmers Market (Baltimore), Coffee Nature, Tacoma Station Jam Session, Green Island Café Jam Session, Mr Henry’s Jam Session (DC); Café du Sol (Alexandria, VA) as well as private engagements/events throughout the DMV area for the past three and a half years. From 2002-2014 - Regina held artistic residency in Atlanta GA as a Singer/Songwriter performing and composing music with the late Josh Seabrooks, Jazz Organist/Keyboards. Frequently seen at the Lush Life Cafe, Hilton Hotel, Our Place and Red's in Savannah, GA. PROFESSIONAL MUSICIAN Self Employed, Lanham, MD (July 2019-current) Schedule rehearsals with other musicians. Transpose music to alternate keys with speed and accuracy. Build networks with local musicians to provide session support for gigs and events. Select music carefully to achieve balance of musical styles on program. Modify music selections to personalize performances. Interpret different music by making use of voice productions, harmony, rhythm, and melody to present characterization. Select appropriate pieces to meet performance needs and showcase skills. Read, interrupt, and sing lyrics during a performance or recording session. Perform original or repertoire jazz works in performances. Regina (Gina) Earl - versatile Jazz and Blues performer/artist presents My Babe, a classic Blues tune, written by Willie Dixon made famous by Little Walter. Gina performs this traditional blues with her Kala Baritone Ukulele and Zoom drum machine (allowing for a fuller sound and accompaniment). Using this video as a performance session/demonstration marketing piece to acquire session gigs in the DMV area.
