About the Artist
Gregson Lunz is primarily a seascape and landscape artist working with acrylic paint on canvas. A self-taught artist, his studies and influences include artist of the Hudson River School from the first half of the nineteenth century such as Frederick Edwin Church. As a lifetime surfer and diver, Gregson’s main subject is the ocean. He paints the ocean from the viewpoint of a surfer. His style involves detail and layers. At times he will experiment with hyper colors. Many of the scenes are created in his imagination, using dunes and beaches and other subjects from his travels, including Maryland's Assateague Island and other Maryland locations. Gregson is also a songwriter / singer who has published 2 albums: "released" and "Element, ebb tide and flo." An accomplished guitarist and singer, Gregson has been performing rock and alternative music all his life. An interesting note is that his songs and art have influenced on another as seen in his music videos, "Released" and "Element" found on his website or on You tube. Assateague Jewel
Acrylic on Canvas
2020
The painting is of a wave photographed at Assateague island during a surfing trip. The wave had so much character and beauty in its movement and it was a beautiful day that brings good memories.
Sanctuary
Acrylic on canvas 30 X40 inches
2017
Two American finches perched near a pond with water lilies. I wanted the scene to be intimate, a moment in time, meditative and calming. The colors are bold and hyper lit to express a bright atmosphere. The original painting is continued around the canvas.

Angel of the Marsh
Acrylic on Canvas 24X30 inches
2018
Another of my more "intimate moments" where I wanted the subject to be a small, comfortable setting. The cross-section between under and over water to see life above and below is what inspired this, along with lush greens to make a little hideaway. Much detail and bright colors.

Beyond the Dunes
Acrylic on canvas
2019
I imagined finding a natural path to a personal and magical place. Waves wrap around a cliff, a waterfall dropping to the sea and dunes with colorful flowers. I used hyper lighting and detail to create a dreamy secret place, where one can go to and lose the cares of the day, for a while. A reminder that the right path will take you to new discoveries.
