Ileana Doble Hernandez

About the Artist

Ileana Hernandez is a Mexican visual activist and 2019 graduate from the MFA in Photography and Related Media at Rochester Institute of Technology. Works from her thesis project My Dear Americans have been featured at The Nation’s blog and were shown at the 2019 SPE Media Festival and the 2018 Northeast Exhibition Tipping Points. A maker and a thinker, Ileana believes that art has the power to share ideas and make people care. She uses her art making as a form of activism. Ileana’s works have also been exhibited in numerous group exhibitions and printed publications, including Rencontres d'Arles 2018, in Arles, FR, ArtHill Gallery in London, UK, CICA Museum in Gimpo, South Korea, Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh, PA, Danforth Art Museum in Framingham, MA, FotoFest, Humble Arts Foundation, Huffington Post and Vice's Creators Project, among many others. Her work is part of public and private collections. Due to her artistic and academic accomplishments, Ileana is the recipient of several awards. In 2018 she earned the Richard Stanley Award because of her Thesis Proposal, and in 2019 she was selected as the RIT College of Art and Design Outstanding Graduate Student.
