I am a Baltimore-based abstract artist whose work is rooted in resilience, self-discovery, and transformation. Throughout my life, painting has been both a source of refuge and a lifeline that has guided me through dark times. As a single mother, at times it can be challenging to prioritize art. But no matter how far away I get from painting, I always find my way back to it, and with each return, I reveal a new piece of me. It has helped me uncover a voice and confidence I didn’t know I had.
Although I have not pursued a formal degree in the arts, creativity has always been part of my life. As a young child, I grew up painting, drawing, writing, and doing crafts. My father had a background in photography, and my mother had an associate’s degree in advertising. In my early twenties, I once imagined a career in interior design due to my interest in composition and combining different textures, patterns, and colors. At 19, I became very interested in painting, filling my walls with several abstract and expressive works. I have gone on to create many paintings on canvas, wood, and murals for homes and businesses.
Ultimately, painting is about healing and transforming my struggles and the struggles I see around me into something thought-provoking and beautiful. I work through my emotions and perspectives through the painting process. My process combines intention, perseverance, flow and spontaneity. Through abstraction, I invite the observer to find their own meaning and connections with the work.
