About the Artist
Joanna Lynn Salerno is an artist and graphic designer based in Baltimore, MD. She takes an interdisciplinary approach to her work, incorporating multiple mediums within design, sculpture, painting, drawing, photography and animation. Salerno's visual explorations are presented through graphics made of clay and light, photographs of painting, paper, and flesh, or .gifs built from astroturf. She studied Interdisciplinary Sculpture at MICA and holds a bachelor's degree in Art and Design from Towson University.Artist's Statement
My artwork is an ongoing experiment in the relationship between color and form, using the human figure to create spatial and psychological connections. Each creation explores the dimension between materials and output, forming a connection between the tactile and digital worlds. These visual explorations are the language I know best, transmitting information that relies on reflexes, senses, and emotions that exist outside of any words in the dictionary.Featured Work
