About the Artist
Hi, I'm a multidisciplinary American-Costa Rican artist and designer. I enjoy blending my varied life experiences and training to create unique and powerful works of art, spaces, furniture and grapfic design. I love solving design and budget projects, as well as simply creating because I was inspired to give shape to my visions. While growing up in Costa Rica was exposed to the political and economic adventures of the Central American region, where an urge to experiment with art in public places was born. My methodology has been deeply influenced by having lived in Europe and other coutries for extended periods of time. In the twenty years I have been living in Maryland, I've had the opportunity to experience a different culture that I have embraced as my own, and whose particularities are a source of constant inspiration. I'm currently working as an independent illustrator. I specialize in Painting, Illustration and Conceptual Design, where I can explore themes that fascinate me like my community, nature and folklore. I'm formally trained in Studio Arts and Art History, yet many my skills are self-taught. I have a deep desire for knowledge that has led her to undertake studies on Architecture, Biology and Industrial Design. Some of the institutions where I have been lucky to attend, are the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico, University of Oxford, Cornell and most recently the Pratt Institute in New York, among others. Contact me if you're interested in my art or if you'll like to get to know me better. JMFeatured Work
