About the Artist
Kasi Aysola is a Bharata Natyam dancer and choreographer who trained under Viji Prakash. Kasi has been privileged enough to work
with leading exponents of Bharata Natyam throughout his dance career such as: Guru C.V. Chandrasekhar, Bragha Bessel, Ajith
Bhaskaran Dass, Harikrishna Kalyanasundaram & Mythili Prakash. He has performed as a soloist in the U.S. and India and has toured
extensively with the Shakti Dance Company. His choreographies for the Shakti Dance Company have been featured in several solo
recitals and group productions. He is currently the co-founder/coartistic director of Prakriti Dance, an innovative professional
company that uses the traditional BhantaNatyam movement vocabulary to explore human experience and philosophy. As a
nattuvanar, he has performed with many well-established artists such as Mythili Prakash, Janaki Rangarajan, and Ragamala Dance
Company. In 2010, Kasi was one of only 20 dance finalists in the country selected by the National YoungArts Foundation. He is also
a recipient of an Apprenticeship Grant from the Alliance for California Traditional Arts and two grants for Individual Artists and
Scholars from the Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County.
