About the Artist
Kat seeks to enrich her local, national and world community. While she is a well rounded artist with traditional skills in drawing, painting, ceramics, and bronze casting, the quiet voice of the prehistoric art form of stone carving calls to her. Although few contemporary artists hear this still, small voice, Kat responds to the stone's call. This response has altered her artistic journey in an inspiring way.
Kat holds a BFA from The University of North Texas and has furthered her education in Bronze, Clay, Metal and Stone sculpture through many sources. In addition to running her own practice, Kat manages and teaches the stone carving department of the Creative Arts Center of Dallas. She assists other artists in their practices when stone elements are required.
Most recently, Kat is a 2023 graduate of The North Texas Business Council for the Arts, Leadership Arts Institute. Also in 2023, Kat is creating her 3rd sculpture for the State Fair of Texas invitational sculpture garden (sculpture on loan program).
Kat has been awarded the Awesome Without Borders Grant from the Harnisch Foundation, Humanitarian of the Year for her neighborhood program, Art Yard Shenanigans during the pandemic, been on local TV news interviews multiple times and is currently on the Fort Worth (TX) Emerging Public Artist Roster, Washington State Public Artis Roster and the Maryland Public Art Roster.
