About the Artist

Kenneth Basile has been involved with the arts in Maryland for over 40 years and with making photographs of the world around him, human interactions and relationships. Basile with his wife Kareen published a photo book about Mexico City in 2009. He has also published books on the Maryland Landscape. He received his BA in history from the University of Maryland, College Park. Basile studied photography at the Maryland Institute College of Art, Baltimore and has an MA in art from the University of Delaware. He has worked for the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in St. Michaels, Maryland and for over thirty years he worked with the gallery, cultural affairs programming and museum programs at Salisbury University in Salisbury, Maryland. He has served on numerous boafrds of nonprofit organizations, both regional and national. for six years, Basile was the director of the Calumet Master Photographic Workshops at Salisbury University, a center for photographic studies and education. Basile has worked as the director of the Ward Museum at Salisbury University, maintaining a collection of carved wooden birds, for fifteen years. While at the University Basile built a collection of rare American Photographs and scullptures. He lives on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.
