About the Artist

  Kevin Hluch retired in 2017 as Professor Emeritus of Montgomery College at the Rockville, MD campus where he taught and coordinated the ceramics area for thirty-five years. He has also been the recipient of two Fulbright-Hayes Visiting Lecturer grants.  These grants provided the opportunity to teach ceramics and art history at Kenyatta University near Nairobi, Kenya for two years and to teach ceramics and drawing at Yarmouk University in Irbid, Jordan for one year. He has also been visiting artist for one semester at Canberra Institute of Art in Canberra, Australia. Prior to teaching at Montgomery College he taught ceramics for three years at St. Cloud University, St. Cloud, MN. Kevin Hluch has also written and edited two books: "The Art of Contemporary American Pottery" which was published via Krause Publications in 2001 and "American iPottery" a digital eBook published via iTunes Bookstore which includes 3000 images, 3D rotatable images of selected ceramic objects, active links to the featured artists' web sites and email plus expandable, active "gallery" images which can focus on details of the works of the art works featured. His work has been featured in various gallery exhibitions within Maryland, nationally and internationally and has most recently exhibited work in the Kent State University Alumni Exhibition located in Kent, Ohio and at the Delaplaine Visual  Arts Center in Frederick, MD.  He has also been the recipient of three Maryland Individual Artist Grant awards.
