About the Artist
Laura Era is an award-winning, professional portrait, and landscape artist, but her passion is portraiture. Born in Japan but moving to the Eastern Shore of Maryland at the age of 5, she considers herself a Shore native and artist since the cradle! Since turning professional in 1988, she has painted hundreds of portraits on commission, both formal and informal, in oil and pastel. She believes that each portrait should have not only the personality and likeness of the subject but also be a great work of art! Clients have returned with requests for additional commissions as Laura personally guarantees the customer's satisfaction. Laura's work hangs in collections throughout the U.S. and Europe. Painting trips have taken her across the U.S. and to England, France, Portugal, Germany and many times to Italy. She is the owner of the prestigious Troika Gallery in historic Easton, Maryland, and has a private studio at her home on the Little Choptank River where she paints and teaches. Laura is a member of The National Portrait Society, Maryland Society of Portrait Painters, The Maryland Pastel Society, and The Working Artist Forum.
