Artist's Statement - “Quiltmaking is an analogy for a well-lived life. Beauty and order can be part of each day through the creative use of the materials at hand, both literally in shapes of cloth and figuratively through mindful living. While honoring its roots as a traditional domestic textile, today’s quilts are a powerful art medium for connection - with one’s self, between individuals and in communities.”Featured Work

Three Turning Points
Art Quilt - cotton, cashmere suitings, machine pieced and quilted
2016
Art Quilt panel with three images of pivotal inspirations to my career. At the top, an Irish Chain quilt kept me awake to figure out the pattern as a 4 year old. In the center, my first solo quilt was made from discarded men's trouser cuffs which started me reclaiming fabrics. At the bottom is my quilt inspired by a painting by Frank Stella which changed my viewpoint about quilts and art. The inspiration of "quilt as art medium" stayed with me although it took 30 years, and 4 hours, to actually make the quilted copy. Part of the "Quilted Mementos" project, funded by the Montgomery County Council for the Arts & Humanities.
