Painting is my passion. I tend to be a representational painter and focus on the human figure and the landscape. Primarily, I paint, en plein air (outdoors), in Baltimore City, throughout Maryland’s beautiful countryside, the coast, and at many other captivating locations across the country and beyond. When painting, I enjoy capturing the light at various times of the day through the use of bold colors. Oil paints are my preferred medium. I use a combination of palette knife and brushwork. That enables me to create texture and depth in my paintings. Interpreting the mystique of the landscape and human figure on canvas is an exciting and wonderful challenge. I completely immerse myself in my painting. The texture and smells of oil paint provide the perfect medium to explore our environment. Painting outdoors affords me the opportunity to capture a piece of history and nature’s bounty. Each painting brings a new opportunity for growth and learning.Featured Work

This was once a synagogue then a variety of churches in an area that is struggling.
No More Crabs

A beautiful day in Crisfield on Maryland's eastern shore. This was all that remained of a former crab house and an industry that is a former shell of itself. I love the history of trying to capture a by gone era.

I painted this outdoors, outside of Ghost Ranch in New Mexico, in 2019. The mountains were beautiful with the light hitting patches of the cliffs. Beautiful day to be painting.
Road Trip

I painted this on location while traveling south. Its a natural bridge formed by rock. Its a quick jaunt off the highway and is a spectacular site. I was fortunate to have an elementary school group watching me paint while the ranger provided an overview. A truly fun experience as the light was beaming on the rocks.

The snow on the ground and the trees create magical shadows. This captured my interest when the light hit the trees making these wonderful shadows in the snow. There was a lone walker trekking through the snow who made his way into my painting. Beautiful Baltimore City.

Even during the pandemic we had a model pose outdoors. It was a beautiful day and our group socially distanced as she played. I loved capturing the electric guitar out doors
