About the Artist

Lita Havens received a BFA degree from the University of the Philippines. She began her career as an art teacher. Later, she worked as a print production specialist for top New York City advertising agencies. Now living in Western Maryland, Havens focuses on her watercolor and fabric art. In her watercolors, she begins by finding the right idea and materials to work with, then choosing a limited color palette to create a textured element. For her fabric art, she stitches recycled fabrics, threads, beads and buttons to form 3 dimensional objects she calls "vessels."  Havens is an active member of the Allegany Arts Council, Western Maryland Watercolor Society, Schoolhouse Quilters Guild, and the Western Maryland Creative Alliance.
