About the Artist

I have been training and working PT as a metalsmith for the past 10 years.  I am a psychologist in the process of transitioning to a career as a metalsmith.  I work in bronze, copper, brass, and silver.  I make jewelry and wish to move into metal sculpture as well.  Metal forming is truly what I love to do.  I am inspired by nature and strive to create flowing designs with the illusion of movement.  I hope my work reflects the inherent beauty in life despite the physical and emotional struggles we all face on a daily basis.

This is a large statement piece necklace made entirely through metal forming using copper sheet metal as well as swirling line work in bronze rod as well. The technique involves fusion welding by hand and metal forming using a wood block
This bracelet is made of melted bronze which was then textured while red hot with a blacksmith texture plate. The two textured pieces very nearly fit together and were welding in place on the backside with bronze filled rod. A small ball of argentium sterling silver was placed in a gap in the front.
This is a piece of sculpture in progress. I bought silk flowers and leaves and used them as patterns to make these forms in brass, bronze, and copper. Some or all of these will be welded together at the bronze "stems". For the final bouquet, argentium silver items will be added. This is done last because silver cannot with-stand the same level of torch heat as the other metals used. The final sculpture will either be placed in an actual vase or in the top of a finished wood block with 1-2 holes drilled.
Necklace before attachment of argentium silver chain (hand-made links). The silver in the center of the middle portion of necklace is fused argentium silver scrape that had been heated and forged for other pieces. It was a perfect fit with a little tweaking. It undulates and is a bit 3D. The outline is formed, forged and textured bronze rod. An argentium 12 ga link chain was added.
