About the Artist

Yanhui Kuang, born in China, graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts at Hunan Normal University in China in 1990, who has lived in the United States since 2002.

Artist's Statement

Most of Yanhui’s artistic works are created in Chinese Xuan Paper as the main creative character. It was not so much that Yanhui has annotated Xuan Paper as that Xuan Paper interpreted itself. Yanhui's artwork has been on display for past Art Walk exhibits and demos in Leonardtown, special events at St. Mary’s College of Maryland, the Gallery at St. Mary’s County Arts Council, and the Patuxent River Naval Air Museum, Lexington Park Library and other locations.  Yanhui’s artistic works include Chinese Ink Painting, Acrylic, Oil Painting and Illustration.

An ancient custom of sacrificing a young beautiful girl to be the wife of the river god. Although this is an ancient fairy tale, I only express the boundless and limitless of modern art by depicting a happy scene of a weeding. The face of groom shows the neutral beauty that people like today, while the bride is completely under the mask.
Purple and blue are my favorite colors, probably because I am a pisces,. These two colors always bring me peaceful and footloose.
Although we have experienced a painful epidemic, the current situation is still beset with difficulties.
Inspired by lamas, who are one the way home in the setting sun.
