Madam-ttu

Painting, Visual / Media

The pandemic prompted me to look into our current civilization and people's deepest, heartfelt beliefs in life. This series is not about any sort of blasphemy but about how acutely an artist can visualize the sufferings and agonies that people experience in everyday life.
These works are a visual contemplation of a deeper well in which the human psyche dwells.

About the Artist

Madam-ttu (a.k.a. BGM) is a visual artist. Solo exhibitions in galleries and museums include Stux Gallery in Chelsea, New York City, the Ilmin Museum of Art in Seoul and the American University Museum in Washington, DC.

Artist's Statement

I used flying insects, such as houseflies and mosquitoes, to create the composition by affixing the insects to the surface of these acrylic paintings. This process each work required meticulous attention over a period of two years.
