My abstract sculptures have a strong connection to the environment and circumstances resulting from the force of nature. I use discarded materials and incorporate the steel remnants of wire, cable and found objects to create contemporary sculpture. I strive to develop work that has a strong sense on continuity, yet with each new piece, I challenge myself in my approach, form and technique.

About the Artist

I create abstract sculpture using steel remnants, wire, cable and found objects. These elements are intricately welded resulting in forms that are rich in texture. The varying weights of steel create volume and density and as I weld the different sections, surface areas are formed layer by layer. It is important to me to have a sense of movement and fluidity in my work, so that your eye is taken around and through the piece.My work has a strong connection to the natural elements of wind, sea, and land. The shapes that emerge relate to forms found in nature and circumstances resulting from the force of nature.

Emerge embodies movement and the unfurling of an organic shape. Subtle coloration is used to help contrast the positive and negative space. Using the hammered steel in the manner presented gives the piece a primitive feel.
Grand Jete' embodies the feel of movement, a soaring into the air. Various weights of steel and welding techniques are incorporated to give this piece it's sense of lightness. A patina and flame technique is applied to the solid sections of steel enhancing the texture and richness of color.
Ritual explores the use of various textures and weights of steel. The spherical shapes convey a sense of movement and of elements orbiting in and around one another. The subtle use of color helps to define the solid shapes and offset the textural elements.
Steel Squall is drawn from the power of nature. It embodies a sense of wind, sea and an impending storm. The piece uses textures that are layered to create both lightness and density and the shapes that emerge are bold and forceful.
Turbulent is a piece about passage, transformation and movement. I use the various weights of steel and welding techniques to draw your eye around the piece. The patina is heated with flame using subtle color to give a a feel of antiquity.
Untitled 35 is a piece that is left up to interpretation. It could resemble rivers, patterns or an aerial overview. It is an organic shape. The steel in itself are channels leading your eye in and out of solid spaces. The patina is rustic with tones of subtle color.
