Artist's Statement
My artwork generally focuses on the forgotten corners of nature where we can all easily find ourselves – a winding road through a local forest, or a cloudscape above rolling hills. When adding human elements, I tend to keep them simple and straightforward as a reminder that mankind’s works are only temporary, even in the local environment. Much of my work is heavily influenced by the landscape of the eastern United States, with occasional trips out to the mountains of the west – this ties into my belief of painting what you know since it will come across as more genuine.Featured Work

Ocean storm sunrise
Acrylic
2016
A rainy thunderstorm moves off over the ocean, tossing up waves, as the sun rises on an empty beach. Later, vacationers will be here, but for now, enjoy the solitude.

Towering sycamores glow in the sun as afternoon shadows are cast along an old country road.
Evening lakeside storms
Acrylic
2015
Low evening sunlight stretches across a vast lake, catching the shores and tree tops in a warm glow. Miles away, storm clouds are illuminated in the waning light of day.
Sweetgums by the Bay
Acrylic
2013
In Down's Memorial Park, old sweetgum trees turn shades of orange and crimson by the edge of the Chesapeake Bay. The autumn breeze scatters leaves in the low sunlight.
Blizzard sunrise
Acrylic
2016
The largest snowstorm in recorded history blew through the Mid-Atlantic region this past weekend, leaving about 30" of snow in Baltimore and even more in certain rural suburbs. Here, we see the sunrise a few days later, after the roads have been mostly cleared, but the frigid snow is still piled up in the woods and along the curbs.
