After decades of immersion in engineering precision, the painting process has let me into a deeper world of uncertainty and ambiguity. Its a new life with new eyes for distilling the constant stream of sensory information to make an artistic statement.

Illinois native transplanted to the Washington DC area in 1982. Began a second career in the visual arts as a representational oil painter after a long career as an engineer in the US Navy submarine service and the nuclear power industry. Completed the Compass Atelier Master Artist Program in March 2023.Artist's Statement
I use mostly canvas of medium size (8x10 to 12x16) and an intimate style to focus on what I consider the most interesting part of a bigger scene, with plans to expand the size and scope gradually over the next couple of years.Featured Work
