Nan Thompson

About the Artist

Nan Thompson has been an artist/photgrapher for over 40 years.  She has an art degree with a major in photography (in the dark ages of film and darkrooms).  Since only recently entering shows in 2010, Nan has been accepted in over 30 juried exhibitionos in MD, PA,IL,MA, and Fl.and and has won numerous awards.  She lives in Nottingham, MD with her partner, Tim and their Belgian Sheepdog, Kodi.  She has 4 children and 6 grandkids.  Her new website is under construction. Artist Statement  Photography is a natural extension of my passion for art and nature.  Asian design is my greatest influence and I follow that asthetic of 'less is more'. Compsosing the image is the most important and I may forget to eat, get totally soaked in the pouring rain, or get frozen fingers.  That may make me stop because I can't press the shutter button. Driven by my need to experiment and explore, I will sometimes manipulate an image to ccreate what I already see in my mind's eye.  I use whatever tools and techniques allow me to share with you, the viewer, an impression or point of view or just the appreciation of the beauty of the everyday.
