About the Artist

By combining my fine arts and textile design backgrounds, I create unique vessels, wall art, and wearables made of hand felted wool.  My passion for working with wool fiber, along with the organic nature of the medium help me connect the ancient traditions of felt making with modern artistry.  Because wool is an organic medium, I allow the fiber to develop its own unique shape and form.  The surface of the felt becomes truly three-dimensional when I add beads or other materials that capture and reflect light.  Sculptural cuts in the matte wool add texture and expose color changes in the fiber layers.   I earned my BFA from Trenton State College (now the College of New Jersey) and my MSEd from The Johns Hopkins University.  My work is available at Gallery 99 in Westminster, MD

Artist's Statement

I make art because I am hard-wired to make art. A switch was turned on when I was very young and my parents ensured my creativity was fostered. Now my work reflects the impact - both positive and negative - of life-changing events that I experience. When you hear the story of my pieces, I hope you are moved as much as I was when I created them.
