Ned Egan

About the Artist

Ned Egan is a fine art photographer who emphasizes patterns and Structures in the nature world to capture and produce images that both challenge and relate to contemporary living. Ned was born in Baltimore, raised a family in Northern Virginia, graduated from Corcoran College of Art + Design and lives in Easton, Maryland.  He was initially taught black and white photography by his father. Raising a family in Alexandria photography became a distant secondary. In the early 2000s he had a photographer working for him that introduced him to high quality digital photography. He quickly learned that the magic of chemical processing was replaced by bending pixels without the side effects of the ever permeating odors and fumes. This employee became a mentor and he relaunched his photographic interest, adopting an Ansel Adams strategy of “... the negative is the score and the print is the performance...” At a point his mentor told him that he could no longer help and Ned decided to study Fine Art Photography at the Corcoran. As the world changes so has Ned, he has moved from Alexandria to Easton. Having done a tour in the Navy he has a love of the the life and the work around the water. He is motivated by coexistence with the environment. His work includes formal portraits and events, landscapes, birds and flowers with a particular fascination with enduring buildings and structures and how they are integrated and interrupt today’s society.
