About the Artist
Under the direction of Dr. Robert C. Thompson, Chesapeake College's Theatre program has (1) worked in conjunction with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation to develop a festival of short plays about issues relating to the Bay's preservation; (2) developed an original production about the history of the Eastern Shore, True Tales of the Eastern Shore, including stories of colonization, slavery, and the life of Gilbert Byron, and (3) hosted an ensemble of Chesapeake alumni to create and stage an original adaptation of the stories of Edgar Allan Poe which appeared at both the Capital Fringe Festival in DC, the Edgar Allan Poe Festival in Baltimore, and the Charm City Fringe Festival.

Artist's Statement
This ensemble seeks to serve schools, libraries, and community centers and offer performances and workshops that raise awareness and pride for Maryland culture and contextualize local and state history within national and global issues.
