About the Artist

Dr. Pat Dingle is a talented artist. She creates visual arts and writes stories. She has spoken at state and national conferences. She is writing fiction and non-fiction. Her artworks are expressive. She is writing children stories currently which are whimsical and fantastic. She produces a television program entitled, An Educational Moment, which shares information on careers, current events related to the education field, and cultural news. The program was created espeically for the community and inform underreprsented minorities of opportunities an career processes. Patricia A. Dingle/Pat was born in Washington, DC and grew up in Prince George's County, Maryland. She is a graduate of Connecticut College, Rhode Island School of Design, and the University of Maryland in College Park. She taught Art Education for approximately 36 years. She retired from the Prince George's County Public Schools after 24 years. She is a veteran of the United States Army where she served as an illustrator. She has taught pre-k students through graduate university students. Pat has won numerous awards. She received an Army Commendation medal first Oakleaf cluster and an Army Achievement meda. She was awarded the first Anna Lord Strauss Award for community service. She won Best Female Host for the Bowie Community Media Corporation in 2016. Pat is writing chldren's stories which are whimsical fantasy. Her goal is to capture the imagination of children while sharing education information to help them live and survive in our society.

Artist's Statement

Dr. Pat Dingle is a multi-talented artist who creates visual arts, writes, and choreographs. She writes non-fiction and fiction. She is currently writing whimsical children's stories emphasizing whimsy and imaginary fantasy. Her goal is to bring older children a wonderful imaginary story that teaches valuable lessons in humanity and survival. Her artwork spans a range of media; however, she is currently working in collage. Her collages demonstrate the many facets of design interests and focuses on strong compositional arrangement and color use. Her work is expressive because her goal is always to evoke an emotional response to her work. Also her artworks are expressive because she incorporates movement to enhance her works. Her choreography is generally in modern dance using music characteristic of the African American community.
