About the Artist
Called a Varietal Artist due to my many and varied interests. Majored in Visual Arts & Political Science at Goucher College, including an independent study of the The Works Progress Administration (WPA) with Baltimore painter Herman Maril. The WPA was an ambitious employment & infrastructure program created by President Roosevelt in 1935, aimed at providing people with productive projects during The Great Depression. Worked for Georg Jensen Inc, then for Betty Cooke at the Store Ltd in Cross Keys, feeding into my inclination toward & appreciation for Scandinavian and Modernist design. Taught in Baltimore City at the former Malcolm X School, stimulating an interest in illustrated books. Directed PR for the University of Maryland Hospital, then for the SIDS Alliance from its downtown Charles Street national HQ, overseeing national media relations, public education campaigns and the production of annual reports, brochures, newsletters and other printed materials. Staffed a philanthropic committee to address homelessness in Maryland for Project Shelter, which merged into Healthcare for the Homeless. Tried my hand at knitting, pottery, jewelry making, painting and collage. Eight years ago, I opened TooArtfulForYou, a retail shop on the online global platform Etsy.com to market my own photography, art and craft, in which Baltimore graffiti, the urban experience and my love for this city play a major role. All of my interests have come together, as the inventory has expanded to include Midcentury apparel & accessories, art, antiquarian books and home decor.Phipps Moran website View Website Phipps Moran website Purchase Art
