About the Artist
My present artistic inquiry explores the visceral and analytical impact of narrative and aesthetic forms. My images are provoked by identity, ancient narrative and colloquial expression. My work is also inspired by the aesthetics and influences of popular culture, cinema, celebrity, music and social media.
I have attained multiple artist exhibitions, residency and lecture opportunities. I have over 20 years of studio practice. Awards include the Philadelphia Ethical Society Emerging Artist Award, the D.C. Commission on the Arts, and the American Association of University Women career grant. I am a founding and active member of Black Artists of D.C., a member The Drawing Center NYC, Pyramid Atlantic Art center and The National Association of Women Artists. My work has been included in solo and group exhibitions at The Philadelphia Sketch Club, Sisterspace Gallery, Capitol Technology University at the Philadelphia Art Alliance, The Painted Bride Gallery, Harmony Hall and in NYC as I continue to develop work in new directions.
