2019

I work in a wide range of images and processes, moving from textile and printmaking to painting and mixed media, using the constraints of each medium to intercede on one another. The act of stenciling, printing and layering help to find new connections in the materials and creates an arena where new combinations happen and lead the piece into new territory. The structure of collage, allows for play and multiple points of view in a work, creating a channel to a subconscious world. The structure for these latest works relies heavily on the imprint of organic shapes and forms derived from nature. Moving through woods is similar to the art process having a definite ritual and flow, slowing, meandering, moving swiftly and surprising at times. The physicality of rug tufting expands my painting arena into a different dimension, literally allowing for a more expansive place for these combinations of ideas to resonate.
