About the Artist
Ray Bogle is a local ceramic artist working primarily out of his home studio in southern Maryland. He is a member of the CalvART Gallery in Prince Frederick, Maryland, and teaches classes at Annmarie Garden in Solomons, Maryland, as well as conducting workshops for other local organizations. Ray has been working with clay and making pots as a hobby for almost 30 years. Throughout that time, he’s made many types of pieces; some pieces just for the fun of it and others were sold at craft shows and local galleries. Along the way, he taught classes and explored several different methods of glazing and firing. The culmination of this has brought him to the present time, where he finds his efforts focused on further refining of his skills through advanced exploration of the many different methods of throwing, glazing, and firing pottery in addition to teaching the art of make pots. Recently, Ray has been exploring Japanese Ceramics to gain an in-depth understanding of the history and techniques that are the foundation of Raku and the Tea Ceremony.Ray Bogle website View Website Ray Bogle website View Gallery
