About the Artist
30+ years making art (don't ask my age!) Bachelors in Fine Art, Penn State University Masters in Arts Administration, Southern Methodist UniversityArtist's Statement
Images can communicate things that words can't. All of my work contains some expression of my subconscious and is spiritual and emotional in nature. Because of this, it is usually similar to Surreal or Expressionist art although I also do life studies and representational work to improve my skills. The shadows of erased lines are very important to the finished work because they are whispers of the journey in the evolution of a piece. Every piece is a laborious process of work, re-work, and re-work again. From a faint idea or inspiration, I discover a 'story' gradually unfolding as the image materializes. When a piece can completely tell it's 'story,' I know that 'journey' is done. Every work is imbued with thoughts, feelings, and some appeal to connect and be understood. Occasionally a piece is a form of visual prayer to what God or 'power of the universe' there may be. How the edges of a field and the juncture of lines and planes work fascinates me but, connecting with a viewer is perhaps even more important. Sometimes a social challenge. Sometimes an impish whimsy. Sometimes a reflection of wonder.Featured Work
