ROBERT STUART COHEN, having taught for more than thirty years at Montgomery College in Rockville, Maryland, is now devoting full-time to his art, including painting, computer graphics and public art projects. He lives and works in Rockville, Maryland.
A love of color, variety and illusion define my artistic endeavor.
In my current “Pure Spirit” series, I am visualizing a dynamic,
rectangular plane as a symbol of integrated mind, body and spirit.
I am placing it in various contexts, and try to balance the rational
and impulsive by using both carefully rendered and spontaneous techniques.
I incorporate variety by combining various styles and assembling multiple
canvases. The resulting images are metaphors for balancing order and freedom,
extending boundaries, and bridging differences.
