About the Artist
Ryan Clark is a Baltimore born and raised director, actor and educator who has spent his entire adult life creating, nurturing and celebrating live performance. Ryan launched Quarry Theatre in 2011 because of his interest in original, deconstructed and devised theatre. His directing work is eclectic including original plays, re-imagined classics and contemporary texts. Ryan spent several years as an artistic associate for Iron Crow Theatre where he received positive notices for his productions of the world-premiere Trick and The Super Hot Raven as well as Sara Kane’s 4.48 Psychosis. Some of Ryan’s New York City directing credits include, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Laramie Project, Two Roomsand Measure for Measure. Selected regional and academic work includes, Meditations on Nationalism (Quarry Theatre), King Lear, Angels in America, Twelfth Night, The Baacahi, Romeo and Juliet, The Amish Project and his M.F.A. thesis production of Yerma. Ryan is an associate professor and program coordinator for Theatre and Media Performance at Stevenson University. Ryan holds an M.F.A. in Directing from Florida State University and is an associate member of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society labor union.
