Savita Gilbert
Savita Gilbert is a graduate of the University of Texas, School of law. Despite her training in a different discipline, her incredible artistic proclivity and talent were noticable since her childhood. Her artistic journey began with doodling fervently while on the phone talking with friends. Every conversation resulted in a sheet of some form of art. Looking at her art, you always knew how she felt about that conversation. Early in life, art became something that she associated with fostering her own personal connection with people. Some wear their hearts on their sleeves; she wore her emotions on paper. It's hard to tell if her art helped her understand her own emotions or if it was the reverse. At first, she didn’t exactly know where she was going with the doodling artistically speaking, it helped her observe people and her own mind in response to people. It was her own internal dialogue. Albeit, soon enough, it wasn't enough for her to stay private with her art because she saw designs and colors everywhere and wanted to communicate back with the world coming full circle with her art. Her doodling morphed into illustrations, designs and cartoons. Soon she started dabbling with water colors. She then went online with her own website www.SavitaGilbert.com, as well as other art websites such as Saatchiart, Etsy and Society6. It’s amazing how art provides its own encouragement. Art is an ongoing dialogue with the world for Savita. Every piece of her art has a message to offer. If you’ve taken the time to view her art, you’ve already befriended her in wordless dialogue.
Savita's art has peaceful undertones and her inspiration is Daisaku Ikeda, her mentor, a Buddhist philosopher, who is also an artist- a photograper and poet.
Savita's art is displayed in the Emerging Artists gallery exhibit in Gaithersburg, MD, this Spring of 2019.
