About the Artist

Secret Best Friends is an award-winning vocal group with members in Baltimore and Annapolis. The four members of the group combine their individual experiences and influences from many styles to create playful, nuanced music that appeals to all audiences. The quartet’s repertoire features a healthy mix of familiar favorites and lesser-known titles from the global canon of jazz standards. Secret Best Friends placed 12th in the world at the 2023 Barbershop Harmony Society International Quartet Competition, held in Louisville, Ky. The group won the Contemporary A Cappella Society's 2021 A Cappella Video Award for Best Barbershop Video for their rendition of "Obey Your Air Raid Warden."

Artist's Statement

We have earned a following, won national awards, and achieved success in international competitions using our voices to explore the intersection of two quintessentially American musical styles: jazz and barbershop harmony. We bring to life our own arrangements of familiar and obscure songs to demonstrate how hallmarks of both styles complement each other without sacrificing any artistic integrity to "serve" one style over the other. We achieve all of the above without ever taking ourselves too seriously. A Secret Best Friends performance is meant to be fun, light and even a little silly at times.
