About the Artist
A self taught artist living in Maryland, USA. Studied graphic design and designed various works including book covers, event flyers, brochures, banners for AMC in different capacities. Khan had an artistic mind ever since young. During school her notebooks were filled with doodles. When coloring with markers did not satisfy her as a child, she started using things around the house which would do the job. Things like food coloring, fabric dyes and spices such as turmeric etc., Khan realized that she prefers hands on work over graphic design. Hence, got back into painting. This time in oils and Acrylics instead of water colors. She notices beauty in everything around her. Inspired by the nature and deep human emotions, she understands we tend to forget to appreciate the beauty in simple things around us. Moreover, usually our busy schedules take us away from nature. Her goal is to remind us of the beauty God has created for us and filled the our universe with. Realizing what beautiful treasures we have on this earth creates feelings of calm and peace within us. What better gift to give to the world than this at times like we are currently living in. Khan wishes to eradicate hate and ignorance from the universe. She engages in interfaith dialogue and volunteers in local community in hopes of spreading peace, love and understanding among people of different faiths. She believes we need to look beyond our skin colors and status, nourishing the soul. We must work towards unity, one humanity embracing all. Spreading smiles is well worth the effort.Shukri Khan website View Website Shukri Khan website View Gallery Shukri Khan website Purchase Art

White Magnolia Bloom
Oil on Canvas
2016
The beauty of oil painting can't be beat. I've chosen oil paints and a deep edge canvas to give this painting the look of a classic yet contemporary piece of art. It will look great hanging in any setting. This painting is inspired the magnolia tree near my home. I fell in love with the big beautiful magnolia flowers. My brush just flowed and created this beautiful eye catching flower.
The beauty in nature is all around us but sadly gets ignored since we either get too preoccupied in the daily routines of life. Painting nature is my humble effort to bring mankind closer to The creator and its creation. I hope this painting will bring peace and beauty in someone's home or office.
Shatter
Acrylics
2017
This beautiful piece of artwork is created on a deep edge gallery wrapped artistic canvas using acrylics. The colors, the theme and expression of sacred emotions all make this artwork special for me.
"Shatter" is a labor of love and desires to express broken dreams and lost hopes. It also shows that with determination and strength, happiness can be achieved. Although "Shatter" portrays a struggle, it gives an optimistic viewpoint. Hope stays close to the heart; keeping the dream alive. It gives a message; never fear the circumstances. The troubles will pass, making one stronger in the end.
