About the Artist
Degree in Architecture from the University of Cape Town, South Africa, and in City Planning from MIT. Emeritas professor in the School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation at the University of Maryland. Weaver of MAXIMILIAN scarves.Artist's Statement
My scarves are hand-woven on a ten-harness Macomber loom with merino wools and wool-silk blends, and using a combination of plain-weave and tapestry techniques. The basic layout, yarns, and colors of each scarf are worked out beforehand, but I riff on the design and introduce additional elements so that each scarf has an informality and identity that is all its own. Each is numbered. No two are the same.Featured Work
