The portraits I create are recordings of visual experiences through my progression as an artist, often aiming for hyper realism. I want to celebrate the natural beauty that is humanity through different mediums.
About the Artist
My name is Sidney, born and raised in no same place, I have called Maryland my home now for the past few years. I have a strong passion for drawing and painting, specifically depicting humanity through hyperrealism. Being a recent graduate of Salisbury University, I plan on using my Bachelor of Art degree to pursue different avenues for art, whether it be advertising, illustration or design.Artist's Statement
Through my artwork I aim to capture visual experiences and evoke emotive responses with every refinement of technical skill. Exploring portraiture primarily, I am constantly inspired by people and want to capture visually, emotionally, and naturally the way they are, often closely studying anatomy. I have found that moving around my entire adolescence, I have come across many diverse people and cultures that have laid the foundations for who I am today in terms of my inspiration. Nature in its accidental appearances also holds a special place in my works of art and have a relevance to the people I like to portray. It is that ethereal connection that fuels me to strive for the innate beauty in nature I get the honor to recreate. Seen in my dominantly used mediums of charcoal, graphite, oil paint and pastels, I hope to illustrate my desire in mastering the craft of hyperrealism. The portraits I create are not just captured moments of a person, they are, to me, recordings of visual experiences through my progression as an artist. I am happy so long as I am drawing and painting the world around us, celebrating the everyday beauty that is humanity. Through travel and practice, I will always be tightening my technical skills at hyperrealist portraiture.Featured Work

Celebrating Humanity
Oil pastel on paper
2023
This piece is meant to encompass the warmth of the relationships around us, however simple they may be. The bond between even just two people can be so strong and I wanted to play with the simplicity of humanity and the love shown between a father and his daughter.
Memorable Farewell to Oregon
Graphite and charcoal on paper
2022-2023
This is a drawing of my father, somebody who loves hiking and exploring nature in every place he visits and lives. The connection between nature and humanity is highlighted here, with how the ethereal beauty of nature can be observed by the human eye and experienced in many different ways.
Allure
Oil on canvas
2023
Allure is about the gaze a person can hold and the beauty one can resonate with.
What Am I Thinking?
Charcoal on paper
2023
This piece is meant to engage the viewer, to have them curious about what the woman in the drawing is thinking, what she is feeling, how captivating her gaze can be. The blank stare can be interpreted in various ways depending on the viewer and their feelings toward her. Having her face so blown up in size gives a sense of invasiveness where, as the viewer, you are challenged to come closer and try and find some way to connect with her.
Over my Head
Oil on canvas
2023
A self-portrait with a birds eye view, meant to show a natural and relaxed view of myself where I feel at peace in this world. A different point of view is meant to show myself in a new light when I am not self-aware.
