My current studio practice is an investigation of references, how we process information and transform it into abstract new media. As a multidisciplinary painter, I aim to ask questions of people, turning dialogue into formulas from which I create imagery. I utilize modern Philosophy, from Cassirer to Meillassoux, as inspiration, bringing ideologies which I find poignant and political into a contemporary context. Ranging from oils and acrylics on canvas to works on paper and painted objects, I employ transparency and color to show the evolution of the work, layering hues and combining meticulous brushwork with dramatic motion and textured surfaces. My work is an expressive means of learning and understanding information as it is put forth in this world, while still focusing on the complexity of objects and images themselves. As I continue to unpack references and answer my own questions, I hope for the work to exist in a global context, boiling down issues into numbers and images, understanding existence from a more complex and universal standpoint, all based around art and conversation.
