Artist's Statement

The viewer is capable, worthy, and important. An artwork can create a nurturing and supportive situation where the viewer is able to think and act.  As a fellow in the artist's human experience, the viewer and the artist's roles become interchangeable as influence is shared. The artist does not exist to give the viewer the answers, the artist’s role is to think about the questions so that the viewer may think, too. I am compelled by the exchange of creative ideas and experiences enabled by the ability called Art. My artworks are activated by the viewer through participation in an art making experience in the form of physically making, writing, utilizing a service, manipulating the artwork, or using the artwork as a tool. It is important to me that the artwork encourages its viewers or participants to experience Art as a state of mind or being.
